Ondrej Cink

Following-up on a super strong season is not an easy thing to do, as Ondrej Cink had to learn in 2014. After all the young Czech had finished his first season in the elite ranks on a 5th place both in the World rankings and the Worldcup’s overall standings. And 2014 got off to a good start as well for Ondrej Cink: He won the second race of the Cyprus Sunshine Cup and finished in 2nd at the first race. At the Worldcup opener in Pietermaritzburg he made it to the podium in 4th and thus contributed to the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM’s winning the team classification. Cink added another top10 result by finishing in 8th in Cairns, but then a number of health issues threw him off track. Things seemed to turn to the better in summer when Cink was victorious at the KitzAlp Bike Festival and a race of the Czech national series, but at the overseas Worldcup races he missed out on the top15 twice. With a 12th place at the World championships things took a significant turn for the better in the end, however.

For 2015 Ondrej Cink hopes to be spared from any health issues throughout the season and to score top10 results in the crosscountry Worldcup regularly, making it to the podium at some races. And Cink is particularly ambitious regarding the World championships to be held in Andorra: To be ready for the special conditions in the Pyrenees, he plans to train a lot at altitude during the summer.
