Ondrej Cink wins Voroklini race

At the end of the season opening "Cyprus Sunshine Cup" Ondrej Cink got to win his first race of the season. The Czech got the better of his compatriot Jan Skarnitzl in Voroklini after a tough battle. With Thomas Litscher in 3rd, Rudi van Houts in 4th and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå in 3rd in the women's race, the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM had plenty of reasons to celebrate.

The two youngest riders were delivering the highlights for the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM at the "Sunshine Cyprus Cup": Ondrej Cink finished on the podium on all four days, and Julian Schelb made it into the top5 three times.

The MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM strikingly rejuvenated its line-up for the season 2013. With Thomas Litscher and Ondrej Cink the under23 world champions of the preceding two years were added to the team’s core consisting of Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå, José Hermida and Rudi van Houts, and Fabian Aust was promoted to become the team manager after having served as assistant for many years. This daring rejuvenation paid off, and the season 2013 can be considered a full success with a world championship title, another world championship medal, multiple national championships and a number of podium finishes. In the UCI’s team ranking, the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM finished the season in second. And for 2014 another talent will be added to the team with Julian Schelb, who won the silver medal at last year’s under23 world championships. Things are looking good for a continued success story.

At the finals of the crosscountry worldcup in Hafjell, Norway, the riders of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM scored two more top10 finishes: Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå made it to the podium on home turf finishing in fifth, Ondrej Cink was 8th in the men's race and ends the season on a fifth place in the worldcup's overall standings.

Three athletes of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM were competing at the mountain bike world championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. While José Hermida won the Bronze medal in the men's race, both Ondrej Cink and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå finished in 8th.

One week ago, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM was not at the start of the crosscountry worldcup race in Mont Sainte-Anne. This weekend she showed that her training at altitude has paid off by winning a national race in Méribel, France ahead of world and Olympic champion Julie Bresset.
