At the opening round of the MTB Bundesliga in Saalhausen, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM got to celebrate her second win of the season. In the men's race however Julian Schelb missed out on a top10 result finishing in 11th.

Dahle Flesjå gets first win of season in Haiming

After the initial round of the World cup, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå had decided not to travel to Australia. At the "Ötztaler Mountainbike Classic" the Norwegian proved that she had estimated her form precisely: Competing with some well-known riders, she got to celebrate her first win of the season.

Hermida on the podium again

Although the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM was competing with only four riders in Australia, the team got a podium finish and three top10 results. Thus the second race of the crosscountry World cup can be considered a full success. And yet things could have been even better.

Highs and lows in Australia's jungle

Even before the crosscountry events started in Cairns, Australia there were some highs and lows from the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM's perspective. On Thursday Rudi van Houts crashed when training on the muddy course, suffering a concussion. Julian Schelb on the other hand made it to the podium of a World cup race for the first time after joining the team.

Three podium finishes at Worldcup opener

The MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM provided a fine display of its class at the first race of mountain biking's crosscountry Worldcup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa: Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå finished the women's race in second, and with Ondrej Cink in fourth and José Hermida in 5th two riders made it to the podium in the men's race as well.

Finishing touches before the worldcup starts

One week before the worldcup starts in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa some of the riders of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM were competing at races in Europe: Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå made it to the podium in third in South Tyrol, Thomas Litscher was fifth at the second race of the Swiss national racing series and Ondrej Cink competed at a road race in the Czech Republic.

From bad to worse

The start to the Cape Epic stage race had been great for José Hermida and Rudi van Houts, as they won the prologue. On the next day, the lost the leaders' jerseys due to Hermida's anaphylactic shock, and now a crash from Rudi van Houts at the end of the fourth stage has forced the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM to abandon the race.

Win some, loose some

Just one day after the won the prologue of the Cape Epic, José Hermida and Rudi van Houts of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM lost not only their leaders' jerseys but also more than an hour. The reason for this was an anaphylactic shock that almost forced Hermida to abandon the race.

By winning the prologue of the Cape Epic stage race, José Hermida and Rudi van Houts of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM made themselves the first wearers of the leaders' jerseys. Far away in Buchs, Switzerland however, Thomas Litscher and Julian Schelb could not match the pace of their fastest competitors at the first race of the national series.

Thomas Litscher finishes on the podium

One week before the first race of the Swiss national crosscountry racing series, a star-stacked field lined up for the season opener at the foot of Monte Tamaro. The MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM was represented by Thomas Litscher, who rode a strong race and crossed the finish line in third, joining Nino Schurter and Julien Absalon on the podium.
