Although the riders of the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» missed out on the podium spots, the omens are favourable for the third race of the season.

Thrilling finale for the podium spots

The final two stages of the «Cape Epic» brought a last, fierce battle for the spots on the podium. Although Hannes Genze and Andreas Kugler from the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» had to yield second place, they managed to defend third place in the final standings. Team riders were also competing in Italy and Switzerland.

After having finished on the podium two more times and moving up to third in the overall standings, Hannes Genze and Andreas Kugler have left the gone wrong prologue behind. Two top10 finishes at the season’s first Worldcup race

At the start of 2012’s Worldcup season, the audience at Pietermaritzburg, South Africa got treated to some thrilling racing. In the end, the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» scored two top10 finishes after José Hermida had seemed to be on course to a podium finish for much of the race.

Targeting strong results at the Olympic games and medals at the World championships

The way the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» was starting the Olympic season was befitting its rank. More than 300 guests from 21 countries, 130 of them journalists, were attending the team presentation on the island of Mallorca, and the tone was clear: The team wants to be at its best throughout the season 2012.

Hermida, Näf and Genze score podium finishes in cyclocross

As one of only a select few professional cycling teams, the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» is competing for victories both during summer in mountain bike racing and in winter in cyclocross racing. Last Sunday, Spain’s José Hermida won the national race in Ciudad de Valencia, earning important points in order to get a good position at the start of the world championships due to be held at the end of January.
