2nd place for Thomas Litscher in Austria

At the KitzAlpBike-Festival in Kirchberg, Austria Thomas Litscher from the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM rode to a 2nd place against a strong field of competitors. The Swiss rider confirmed his improving form of the most recent weeks with this podium result.

While the other athletes of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM have already focused entirely on the World championships that are due to begin next Wednesday with the team relay races in Nove Mesto, Czechia, Thomas Litscher was the team’s only athlete to compete at the KitzAlpBike-Festival’s cross country race. As Litscher has not been selected for the World championship by the Swiss federation and has been staying in the region for a training camp anyway, this race was more than welcome. But Thomas Litscher was facing a lot of well-known opponents as this C1 race presented quite an impressive list of starters.

Heavy rain before the race made the course in Kirchberg even trickier to ride, and in places the athletes had no choice but to shoulder their bikes and run. Thomas Litscher was unfazed by this: Despite having to start from a bit further back, the Swiss rider of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM was leading the race after the first lap with an advantage of 13 seconds. From there, he only had to let Frenchman Jordan Sarrou pass him throughout the race, finishing in 2nd place and leaving a lot of well-known riders behind him. While doing so he collected precious points for the world rankings and a valuable confirmation that he’s on his way back to his old class.
