Cink wins crosscountry race in Czech Republic

One week before Albstadt’s Worldcup race, Ondrej Cink displayed his excellent form at the third race of the Czech Strabag Cup in Kutna Hora. The Czech rider of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM won the C1 category race and further added to his self-confidence for the next couple of races.

The MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM fielded two riders at the third race of the Czech Strabag Cup in Kutna Hora: the reigning Czech national crosscountry champion Ondrej Cink and Thomas Litscher. Right from the start the Swiss rider sprinted into the lead. But he was not to enjoy this race situation for a long time as he crashed on the second lap and was forced to abandon the race as a consequence.

At the same time Ondrej Cink was moving up in the standings and managed to overtake Jan Nesvadba. From there and just one week after winning the Bronze medal at the European crosscountry championships, the Czech rider of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM fought a thrilling duel for the victory with Jan Skarnitzl. This rider had won the first two races of the national series, but in the end he got beaten by Cink by a margin of 36 seconds.

One day after his win, Ondrej Cink commented as follows: „It’s always good to win a C1 race like the one in Kutna Hora, and I’m very satisfied with this win. Of course this race was a welcome test for next weekend’s Worldcup race in Albstadt as well.“
